Disease COMMON COLD (RHINITIS)
   
Treatment

Common cold is a self limiting condition the aim is symptomatic relief.

 

Steam inhalation.

Vicks inhaler, Vicks of Halls lozenges.

Tab. Disprin 1 tds.

Tab. CROCIN 1 tds for  relie from bodyache, feverishness.

Tab. FORISTAL 1 tds (Anti histaminics) or combination drugs.

Tab. Rinostat ½ 1 1 tds.

Tab. Wikoryl

 

Ortivin Nasal drops S.O.S. if blocking of nostrils.

Tab. Celin 500mg OD x 6-10 days (Vit C)

 

If it progresses to pharyngitis or bronchitis, then add antibiotics.

 

Cap. LEdermycin 300mgbd x 5 days or

Ampicilin

Amoxycilin

Erythromycin

Pefolaxin.

 

If attacks are frequent, (Allergic Rhinitis)

 

Inj. Histaglobulin 2ml IM x every 4 days x 3 injections (Immunoglobin _ antihistaminic)

High protein diet and regular exercises.

Regular deep breathing exercises.

Inj. Neurobion 2cc IM x ATD x daiy x 5.

Cap. Becadex.F 1 bd x 30 (Multivitamun).

Tab. ATIVAN 1mg bd if anxiety/ tension.

If sneezing and watery discharge, indicate allergic origin, use mast cell stabilizers.

Tab. KETASMA 1mg bd x 3-6 months.

Rhinocort Nasal spray x in each nostril x 2 times/ day x directed to lateral walls, protecting the eyes.

Amoxycilin

Erythromycin
